A new name for Liverpool’s defense, Milan Skriniar

Due to the injuries that will keep out both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez in all likelihood throughout the season, Liverpool will be forced next January to intervene acquiring a new central defender. Amongst other options, the hottest name is Milan Skriniar of Inter Milan.

According to what reported by dailymail.co.uk, Milan Skriniar could soon receive an offer from Liverpool. In fact, the Reds are in a serious emergency following the simultaneous serious injuries of Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez, who may not come back for the entire season. Also, Fabinho and Matip were recently injured and it will take a while before having them back in best shape.

So far, Jurgen Klopp found in Nathaniel Phillips an excellent alternative but the high number of matches requires the addition of another defensive player in the squad. As a result, Liverpool is forced to have a look at what available on the market in order to remain competitive in all the competitions Liverpool is taking part.

The initial interest was for Kalidou Koulibaly, strong and explosive defender of Napoli. However, it seems that now the management of Liverpool is monitoring another Seria A player: Milan Skriniar. Last season, the Slovak central defender found some unexpected difficulties in the Antonio Conte‘s defensive system. It is clear that Skriniar does not fit in a defense composed of 3 central defenders while his performances were excellent in the 4-4-2 proposed by Spalletti. Arguably still one of the top 3 defenders in Serie A, Skriniar seemed more and more determined to do well and remain at Inter Milan. However, Antonio Conte seems to prefer other players in his starting eleven.
