As most of you know, FIFA regulations allow football players to freely negotiate and eventually sign a contract with other clubs during the last 6 months of their current contract. As most European football contracts have an end date of June 30th, as of January 1, many players are free to negotiate with the club of their choices.
The names that are in this group for the year 2021 are very interesting and can unleash many “battles” between football clubs for their signings. Here are the main protagonists of 2021’s summer transfer window, at least when it comes to free agents:
Julian Draxler (PSG): The German winger has lost some international recognition during his time in France, but he is still a very skilled player and Draxler is still young enough to develop some interest (27 years old).
Sergio Agüero (Manchester City): one of the historic players of the Citizens team who, despite his age (32 years), is still very much in force.
Angel Di Maria (PSG): another 32-year-old Argentinian who is always a threat when he’s on the pitch and that despite the signings and the passage of time continues to be an important piece in the French club.
Florian Thauvin (O. Marseille): a world champion in 2018 and one of the stars of Olympique de Marseille, Thauvin, 27-year-old, is an great winger who may attract the attention of several important teams.
Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid): the iconic captain of the Spanish club, 34-year-old, is one of the best in his position in the world today and in recent football history, although it is unlikely that he will leave Real Madrid.
Eric Garcia (Manchester City): another Spanish center back, in this case a very young one being only 19-year-old and with a lot of potential. Apparently, FC Barcelona is the club in the best position to sign him.
Georginio Wijnaldum (Liverpool FC): the 30-year-old Dutch midfielder has been a key player in Klopp’s Liverpool FC and a player who brings a lot of energy to midfield.
Memphis Depay (O. Lyon): At 26, he is a very versatile and dynamic attacker with a very good name in Europe and certainly one of the free agent of 2021.
Gianluigi Donnaruma (AC Milan): He is possibly the most promising goalkeeper in Europe and at 21 he already has more than 200 appearances for AC Milan.
David Alaba (Bayern Munich): the 28-year-old Austrian has already announced that he will leave Bayern and due to his versatility, quality and experience, it is an excellent option for any top club in Europe.
Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona): a semi unknown attacker of FC Barcelona with good conditions and some decent goalscoring credentials. Correct? Jokes aside, this could be one of the most insane free agency transfer in the history of football. Despite being already 33-year-old, Messi is still Messi and, according to the rumors, it seems to move to PSG next season.
