Christian Eriksen arrived to Italy with the hopes of reigniting his career and having a fresh start, but his time at Inter Milan has proved to be something close to a nightmare. Now poised to leave the club in January, the Danish midfielder has to do something to get his career back on track.
It seemed that it was only yesterday when Christian Eriksen was highly regarded as one of the best creative midfielders in the world at Tottenham Hotspurs and the best teams in the world were lining up to sign him.
Nowadays, the Danish maestro is quite likely in the worst time of his career and doesn’t seem to find the light at the end of the tunnel. Eriksen’s final six months at Tottenham were filled with inconsistent performances, whether it was with Mauricio Pochettino or Jose Mourinho as managers.
And when Christian Eriksen left in January of 2020 to sign for Inter Milan in Serie A, it seemed that this was the great move he always wanted to reach a new height and start winning trophies as a star performer. Unfortunately, his time at Inter have been filled with the same inconsistencies that he had in his final months with Tottenham and he has never looked like a good fit in Antonio Conte’s midfield, which is a lot more based on hard work and physical strength.
The Inter Milan board has already publicly stated that Christian Eriksen is bound to leave the club in January and that they are going to place him on the transfer list, so we can safely say that his time in Milan has come to an end. Where is he going to go? So far there’s isn’t a specific club. There is talk of West Ham United. There was talk of him going to Atalanta and Alejandro “Papu” Gomez to Inter Milan.
Regardless of where he goes, Christian Eriksen is in a really bad place right now in his career and his next move is going to determine if he can get back on track or not.
