The lightweight division is perhaps the most exciting division in UFC with various highly talented fighters and power hitters.

It just got even more exciting as Dan Hooker (20-9-0) has demanded a bout against Justin “The Highlight” Gaethje (22-3-0). Hooker thinks that a victory over Gaethje, the most recent title challenger, may potentially earn him a title shot.

Dan Hooker was previously more interested in fighting the former Bellator champion Michael Chandler (21-5-0) but he denied his own idea after Chandler put down the opportunity of fighting Tony Ferguson (25-4-0).
It seems everybody in the lightweight division is eyeing a fight with the winner of UFC 257 which is most probably going to be a championship fight. Firstly, it seemed that the winner of Tony Ferguson vs. Charles Oliveira (29-8-1NC) will get a title shot but Hooker has created confusion by demanding a fight with Justin Gaethje.

We think it can be one of the most exciting fights as both of them are power hitters and they are so good in counter striking. Gaethje has a 100% finish rate in his professional career while Hooker also has a good ratio of finishing his opponents so we can say it will be a hell of an event and it will be very hard for UFC to decide the challenger for the title bout.

Now it’s up to UFC authorities if they want to make it more interesting for the fans or not, but this is a fact that Gaethje will never miss a chance to fight against anybody asking for it. He knows that if he gets a win against Hooker, he will become another strong contender for the lightweight title in view of the departure of Khabib.

So now, we have got Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira, and Dan Hooker staring at the title shot against the winner of the UFC 257 main event, Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier.
