Last month have been the most exciting month for Mixed Martial Arts fans as they watched Khabib Nurmagomadov competing in the octagon for the last time, and “The Eagle” threw his gloves on canvas calling it a career, and declaring that he has promised to his mother that he will never fight again.
Right after few days, Dana White came on media and revealed that him, and Khabib are in conversation and “The Eagle” may come back for once to fulfill his father’s dream. Khabib’s father wanted him to reach 30-0 but the tragic death of Abdulmanap Nurmagomadov shattered the things and Khabib announced his retirement in an emotional way.
Dana White was so hopeful that Khabib will return for once even; recently Daniel Cormier gave his views on Dana White’s statement, saying that Dana White has said what a promoter would say, but as far as he knows Khabib, he will not come back.
On his ESPN show DC & Helwani, Daniel Cormier, former two-division champion, said, “I think if you’re Dana White and the UFC, you’re hopeful that’s what Khabib wants to do, but like I said last week, if Khabib Nurmagomedov gives his word, generally that’s a fact. Now, would I be surprised with the economic impact that a fight, he could have, could bring him back? No, and I would not judge him for that if he came back. He’s 32 years old for God’s sake and he can still beat everybody in the world. But there are things that if he says it’s his word, I take him at that”.
Upcoming fight between McGregor, and Poirier is expected to be for the Lightweight title but if it happens, UFC will have to declare that Khabib has been retired, and Dana has not stripped Khabib off the title yet.
Fingers are crossed, Khabib’s fans will surely want to see Khabib back into the octagon to reach 30-0 but it now depends on Khabib if he wants to come back.
