Memphis Depay has been in very decent form so far this season, just after his transfer move to FC Barcelona fell apart. At 26 years old and with his contract running out at the end of the season, it seems that Memphis Depay has his head set on leaving the French club and Ligue 1 as a whole. So where should he go?

Memphis Depay joined French club Lyon in January of 2017 at a time where his career seemed to be heading nowhere. Depay flopped at Manchester United and, based in his own admissions, that was because his mind wasn’t in the right place and didn’t put the necessary efforts to deliver. He bought his own hype and failed to be a consistent performer with the Red Devils under the tutelage of Louis van Gaal first and Jose Mourinho after.

But it was at Lyon where Memphis Depay got his groove back, becoming one of the best players at the club and delivering on a regular basis every season. His combination of pace, skills, knack for scoring goals and charisma quickly made him a fan favorite among the Lyon supporters. And while he was close to joining FC Barcelona this summer, the move never fully materialized and he stayed at Lyon, with one year left in his contract.
One could expect Depay to underperform due to not getting his desired move to the Camp Nou, but his production levels have been quite positive, scoring 8 goals in 16 games and getting 4 assists so far this season. Not bad for a player wishing for a move, huh?

But where should he go? Barcelona doesn’t seem like an option now because manager Ronald Koeman was the one lobbying for the transfer and he is hardly going to remain at the Camp Nou after this season. So, unless the successor may love Depay, Barcelona could be excluded. Depay is not going to stay at France either and a move back to England doesn’t seem likely at this point.

According to the rumors, a team who has approached the manager of the footballer is Juventus. In 2016, the Italian giant has already been closed to sign Memphis Depay from Manchester United but the transfer collapsed due to Juventus’ doubts on Depay. Juventus, in deep financial troubles like other Italian teams, since that getting rid of Cristiano Ronaldo is a must. In addition, the Turin team loves to pick up players without contract such as Rabiot, Ramsey, etc. So, Memphis Depay could its next target to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

At 26 years old, this is a very important decision in Memphis Depay’s career and the club he picks would be quite important since he is most likely going to spend his peak years there, so he needs to choose wisely. But if the man has been honest and has learned from his mistakes at Manchester United, his next club is going to get a quality player to enjoy for the next couple of years.
