Khamzat Chimaev ranked #15 in the welterweight category of UFC

Khamzat Chimaev is now in fifteenth place in the UFC ranking in the welterweight category after the removal of Nate Diaz and Rafael dos Anjos.

The UFC has released in the last hours some updates about the ranking of its Welterweight category. The promotion removed Nate Diaz (21-12-0) and Rafael dos Anjos (30-13-0) from the Top 15 and placed Khamzat Chimaev (9-0-0) in 15th position. To report the news of Khamzat Chimaev‘s entry in the ranking is the Swedish journalist Asha Tafari on Twitter.

The decision taken by UFC of scrapping Diaz and dos Anjos from the top 15 fighters in the welterweight class is more than reasonable. Nate Diaz has fought in both the Lightweight and Welterweight categories during his career in the UFC, but, in recent years, his inactivity has penalized him losing spots in the ranking. The former UFC Lightweight Champion, Rafael dos Anjos, made a victorious comeback in the lightweight category, achieving the 30th victory in his UFC career. Dos Anjos seems to be focused on the lightweight category and he has no interest in the welterweight division anymore.

On the contrary, Khamzat Chimaev, Russian-born but with Swedish passport, after his UFC debut this year has shown to be a world-class fighter. His performances in 2020 have been incredible with three wins in a row in recent months in both the welterweight and middleweight categories. Khamzat is one of the top fighters of this 2020 without any doubt and now that he is in the ranking, his next fights will have an even bigger level.
