Max Holloway (21-6-0) and Calvin Kattar (22-4-0) will compete in the main event of the UFC Fight Night on January 16th, which will be held in an unspecified location between the UFC APEX and Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. It was the UFC that made it official through a post on social media yesterday.

This will be the first match of Max “The Blessed” Holloway without a title up for grabs since 2016, when he won the interim featherweight title by defeating Anthony Pettis (23-10-0). The former champion in the division must return to victory to get another title shot, after the two matches in a row lost against Alexander Volkanovski (23-1-0), albeit with two high level performances.

Instead, for Calvin “The Boston Finisher” Kattar it could be a boost towards a title shot, after the two convincing victories against Jeremy Stephens and Dan Ige for KO and unanimous decision respectively. Kattar must also prove to be continuous in the results, since so far, he has not managed to put more than two victories continuously, ending up defeated every time the level of the challenge has risen. The two defeated have been against Renato Moicano (18-3-1) and Zabit Magomedsharipov (18-1-0).

In a featherweight division with an uncertain ranking and without a challenger to the title, this match could be very important to define the balance at the limit of 145lb.
