The night Joe Montana, NFL legend, saved his 9-month-old grandchild from being kidnapped

Indeed a scary story. It occurred on the night of the 26th September 2020 when the former 49ers American football legend was at home with his family awaiting to dine in Malibu.

Joe Montana, known as “the Comeback Kid”, has been a legendary quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) for 16 seasons, primarily with the San Francisco 49ers (14 season with the 49ers jersey). In 1990, Sports Illustrated magazine named Joe Montana “Sportsman of the Year“. Recently, Joe Montana has returned to the spotlight, but not for the right reasons.

Joe Montana, an American former professional football player, had one of the worst experiences a grandfather would never want to be part to. He was just sitting in his home on another Saturday evening, waiting for dinner to be done when there was an incident in his home.

This was not just any incident, in fact it was a home intruder! The intruder walked in as the front door was unlocked, and saw a woman holding a young baby in her arms. At that point the intruder grabbed the child out of the arms of the relative, and immediately ran off to a different section of the house. It was at this point where the intruder accidentally came face to face with Joe Montana and his wife.

Immediately recognizing that this person did not belong in the house, and should not have his grandchild he, of course, confronted this intruder. The kidnapper refused to give up the 9-month-old child, in fact Joe Montana was quoted as “wrestling” the child away from the intruder. Luckily for Joe Montana police were already on the block for another unrelated incident.

This allowed for someone inside the house to flag down the police in order to catch the intruder. This intruder ran down a few blocks before being arrested by the police on counts of kidnapping and burglary charges, no light crimes.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out,” Montana tweeted the following day the incident occurred. “Scary situation, but thankful that everybody is doing well. We appreciate respect for our privacy at this time”.

Nobody knows why this intruder was trying to kidnap the child, and it shows that crazy people certainly do exist. Make sure to always keep an eye on your children, or maybe just lock the front door even when you are within your home as nobody knows what will happen nowadays.
