UFC Welterweight division is filled with a lot of talent and powerful strikers like Kamaru Usman, Jorge Masvidal (35-14-0), and Tyron Woodley and after the Lightweight division, the welterweight division is perhaps the most exciting division of the promotion.

Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley (19-6-1) has ruled this division for a long time defending for 3 times his UFC welterweight belt before being dethroned in 2019 by Kamaru Usman (17-1-0). This loss must have caused a several psychological damage to Woodley since the former world champion was not able to win the two following fights against Gilbert Burns (19-3-0) and Colby Covington (16-2-0), both in 2020. His last victory occurred in September 2018 where he choked Darren Till (18-3-1) by D’Arce Choke to defend his title for 3rd consecutive and last time.

Currently Tyron Woodley is on a 3-lose streak and many commentators commence to speculate about a potential retirement. MMA is an unforgiving combat sport with a high impact on the psychological side of the fighter creating strong and dangerous imbalances. Losing a fight often means losing confidence in yourself beginning a dangerous domino-effect. However, according to Woodley, this may not be his case since he found the strength of speak up and announce that he is back on track once again.
Tyron Woodley recently stated that despite no longer being among the top 5 fighters, he still has the punching power to knockdown anybody in the division and the skills to outclass any fighter. This statement which we hope to be sincere and truly felt by Woodley, came few days after Kamaru Usman said that Woodley is about “to quit the game”. The current UFC welterweight champion mentioned that, when a fighter starts to lose, the only way to come out of that depressing spiral is to keep fighting which, still according to Usman, is not what Woodley is doing right now.

Tyron Woodley’s coach replied saying that anyone can say whatever they want but Woodley is working hard in the camp and there is no intention to quit in the man! Most of the fighters give up after such streak of defeats but Woodley is looking to turn things around. We do not know yet who Tyron Woodley will fight against next but we remain positive that he has the skills for a potential wonderful comeback.
